This all-day workshop will allow students time with contemporary impressionist Robert Kroeger. He will demonstrate his impasto technique in the morning and provide one-on-one feedback in the afternoon as students create their own paintings of a subject of their choice. A canvas, palette knife and limited paints will be provided. Students are welcome to bring their own paints - acrylic or oil are welcome.
Students will be on their own for lunch.
Enrollment is limited to 12. The workshop fee is $95. ArtsaRound members will receive a $5 discount. Refunds will be issued if the workshop does not meet the minimum enrollment of 5 students by April 24. Please note: the class will be held in a historic building that has multiple floors and is not ADA compliant.
Robert Kroeger is a second-generation artist whose professional art career blossomed later in life. His career in dentistry allowed him to study color values and facial esthetic principles in smile design. In the early 2000s, he felt a call to capture a lonely, deteriorating barn in Licking County. He has since made it his mission to preserve the history of barns in Ohio and throughout America. Robert has painted at least one barn in each of Ohio’s 88 counties, which is the basis for Historic Barns of Ohio, published in 2021 by the History Press. His second book, Round Barns of America, features 75 round barns in 32 states and, as such, is the first book to cover rounds (circular, octagonal, or any polygonal without right angles) on a national basis. His third book on barns, Stone Barns of America - Historic Icons East of the Mississippi, features barns and their stories that range from the mid-1700s to the Gilded Age. Robert lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Laura. His children and grandchildren reside nearby.
